Nazim Mammadov was born in 1978 in the city of Baku. In 2000, he completed his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Credit at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. In 2005, he graduated from the same university with a master’s degree in Finance and Credit, receiving his diploma with distinction.
In 2008, he was admitted to the doctoral (dissertantura) program in Finance at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. His dissertation topic is “Issues of Improving the Efficiency of Operations in the Stock Market.”
Since April 2002, he has been employed at the Center for Economic Reforms under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where he began his professional career as an economist in the Department of Market Infrastructure Development Issues. During his tenure at the Center for Economic Reforms, he worked as a leading specialist in the Financial Sector and Market Infrastructure, Scientific Research, and Analytical Analysis departments.
In May 2006, he was appointed Head of the Analytical Information Department at Baku Stock Exchange CJSC (BFB).
In July 2015, he was appointed Research Fellow at the Macroeconomic Policy Department of the Institute of Economic Research under the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).
Following the elections held in 2019, he was elected to the position of Research Fellow in the Macroeconomic Policy Department. In the same year, in accordance with the Institute’s new organizational structure, he was appointed Research Fellow in the newly established Knowledge Economy Department.
In the subsequent elections held in 2025, he was again elected to the position of Research Fellow in the Knowledge Economy Department, where he is currently employed.
